Is Raising Cane’s Sauce Vegan and Cruelty Free? The Saucy Truth

May 7, 2023

Figuring out whether Raising Cane’s Sauce is safe for vegans to consume can be difficult.

Fast-food sauces often contain many ingredients, some of which may be of animal origin.

To ensure that you are only eating food that aligns with your vegan diet and lifestyle, I’ve investigated the ingredients and production processes of Raising Cane’s sauce.

Here’s what I found.

Is Cane’s Sauce Vegan?

Unfortunately, no. Raising Cane’s Sauce is not vegan.

According to their allergens page, the sauce contains egg, fish (anchovies), and soy.

Cane’s Sauce is actually a bit of a secret. The brand’s recipe is only known by a select few people and it’s said to be locked in a safe. However, Cane’s does disclose that the sauce is mayonnaise based and that there’s Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, garlic, and black pepper in it.

Mayonnaise is traditionally made with eggs, oil, and vinegar. It can be made vegan but most mayonnaise is not unless the label says otherwise.

Worcestershire sauce is another ingredient in Cane’s Sauce that is not vegan. This sauce contains anchovies, which are small fish.

So, if you’re vegan and were hoping to enjoy some Cane’s Sauce with your next meal, I’m sorry to say that you’ll have to find another dipping sauce.

Is Raising Cane’s Sauce Cruelty Free?

The good news is yes! Cane’s Sauce is cruelty free because none of the ingredients or production process involves animal testing.

Some of their ingredients may include animal products but animal testing is not necessary for the production of the sauce.

Animal testing is a cruel and outdated practice that needs to end. I’m glad to see that companies like Raising Cane’s are not contributing to the demand for animal testing.
