Earth Breeze

Jon Wedel started Earth Breeze in 2019. Earth Breeze makes pre-measured, highly sustainable, dye-free, and environmentally friendly dissolvable detergent strips. A number of environmental advocacy organizations, including Green America and the Organic Consumers Association, have acknowledged them for their commitment to environmentally friendly operations. Read the sections below to learn more about Earth Breeze detergent:

Range of Products

Earth Breeze offers two eco sheets: Fresh Scent and Fragrance-Free. You can order one pack of 30 Earth Breeze Eco Sheets (60 loads) or 12 packs of 30 Earth Breeze Eco Sheets each (720 loads).

The product is delivered in plastic-free cardboard packaging that can be easily recycled or composted. Earth Breeze, unlike Tru Earth, Kind Laundry, or Sheets Laundry Club, does not offer a wide range of laundry products in addition to their Earth Breeze laundry strips.

Ingredients

Earth Breeze claims to be a hypoallergenic and eco-friendly alternative to other detergents, which means that by removing unnecessary ingredients, they create climate-friendly products that are also safe for your skin. Earth Breeze Eco Sheets contain only eight essential ingredients (nine if the fragrance is added), which is far fewer than traditional liquid laundry detergent.

Earth Breeze Eco Sheets, on the other hand, contain two potentially hazardous ingredients: polyvinyl alcohol and polyethylene glycol, both of which are water-soluble petroleum byproducts. Because petroleum-based products contribute significantly to plastic pollution in the environment, these Earth Breeze laundry sheets may not be entirely sustainable.

Are They Eco-friendly?

Yes, Earth Breeze is a planet-friendly company that strives to adopt eco-friendly business practices from manufacturing to shipment of these products. Earth Breeze has also received recognition from a number of environmental advocacy organizations, including Green America and the Organic Consumers Association, for their concerted efforts to contribute to a greener future.

Earth Breeze encourages other businesses to support environmental causes as well. Members of their 1% for the Planet organization donate 1% of their earnings to environmental causes.

Earth Breeze also collaborates with We Are Neutral to offset any carbon emissions from manufacturing, operations, and transportation. If you’re searching for the best vegan laundry detergent, Earth Breeze offers a compelling option aligned with your values.

Price

The relative affordability of a laundry detergent sheet is determined by the price per load rather than the total cost. Earth Breeze laundry sheets cost $20 per package and can handle up to 60 loads of laundry. At the regular price, each load costs $0.33, but with their subscription plan, you can reduce this cost to $0.22 per load.

When compared with other eco-friendly strips on the market, this is a great price. These strips can be ordered for one-time delivery or by subscription, with automatic delivery options that include monthly, twice monthly, or three times a year.

Works in Hot or Cold Water

Earth Breeze eco strips work well in both hot or cold water. These eco strips are designed to dissolve easily in water regardless of temperature.

Works with HE Machines

Earth Breeze Eco Sheets work well with all kinds of washers, including high-efficiency (HE) washing machines. Earth Breeze strips can be used whether you have front- or top-loading machines. First, add eco sheets in water to increase their contact time, which enhances their cleaning power, and then add your clothing items. Earth Breeze detergent works not just in machines, they are also perfect for handwashing clothes or other delicate fabric items.

Social Contribution

Laundry detergent is a popular item in disaster relief shelters, homeless outreach centers, women’s shelters, and veterans’ organizations. In November 2020, Earth Breeze launched the “Buy One, Give Ten” program, in which Earth Breeze donates 10 loads of laundry to a nonprofit of your choice for each package purchased. Earth Breeze has donated 100,000 loads of detergent to people in need so far!

Earth Breeze also participates in a variety of planet-regenerating activities, such as ocean cleanup and native tree planting. By supporting Earth Breeze, you’re helping make a difference in the world.

Sheets Laundry Club

Sheets Laundry Club is a passion project of Chris Videdau (CEO) and his wife Laurian who aimed to contribute to a greener future in 2019 after witnessing an alarming amount of plastic in oceans during one of their frequent overseas expeditions. They started an eco-friendly laundry detergent brand to kickstart their efforts to reduce plastic and carbon footprint. Below are details about their company, Sheets Laundry Club, and its flagship product eco sheets, which will help you decide whether Sheets Laundry Club, rather than Earth Breeze, is the right option for you.

Range of Products

Sheets Laundry Club offers a wide range of eco-friendly and plastic-free products in the laundry, kitchen, and self-care categories. They have a total of 35 products available for purchase directly from their official website or through Amazon.

Laundry Products: They offer a variety of laundry products in this section. Laundry sheets, scent boosters, and dryer sheets are their best-selling laundry items. These easily dissolvable detergent strips are available in two varieties: Fresh Linen (scented) and Free and Clear (unscented).

Other than those popular items, they also offer their products in various bundles or combo packs such as In-Wash Scent Boosters Pack, The College Bundle, Laundry Starter Set, Laundry Double Up, Laundry Essentials Kit, Laundry + Dryer Sheet Combo, The Ultimate Plastic-Free Bundle, and the Big Box Bundle, which contains 12 In-Wash Scent Boosters, eight ounces each.

Ingredients

Sheets Laundry Club produces zero-waste laundry strips with the bare essentials. Among the ingredients are water (extracted during manufacturing), polyvinyl alcohol, natural essential oil fragrance (Osmanthus), and naturally derived surfactants from coconut oil. These sheets are hypoallergenic, which means they do not cause allergic reactions and are therefore safe for sensitive skin. Sheets Laundry Club promises that these laundry sheets are suitable for use even by children.

However, if you have super-sensitive skin and you don’t want to take any risks, then we suggest you opt for their unscented option, Free and Clear Laundry Detergent Sheets.

Are They Eco-friendly?

Yes, Sheets Laundry Club makes environmentally friendly laundry detergent strips. It is one of the founding reasons for this brand, according to their CEO. Traditional liquid laundry detergent is typically packaged in high-density polyethylene. Approximately 68% of these bottles are not recycled, but rather end up in landfills or as litter, contributing to the 275 metric tons of plastic waste that enters our oceans and waterways each year.

Keeping that in mind, Sheets Laundry Club manufactures environmentally friendly laundry strips that are delivered to customers in plastic-free cardboard packaging. The packing is biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable as well.

Price

Their laundry sheets cost $19.99 for the 50 sheets package ($0.40 per load). This cost is slightly higher than other options available in the same category. However, if you like their product and want to save a few bucks, then you can go for a subscription.

Sheets Laundry Club offers 15% off to those who subscribe to their services. With a subscription these sheets cost $0.29 per load.

Works in Hot or Cold Water

Sheets Laundry Club zero waste laundry detergent strips work with both hot and cold water. They dissolve easily in water no matter its temperature.

Works with HE Machines

Yes, it works with every kind of machine, be it front-loading or top-loading. It also works great with high-efficiency (HE) machines. For best cleaning results, add these sheets in water before clothes to increase their water contact time, as suggested by the company.

Social Contribution

Unfortunately, I did not find information about any social contributions, such as donations to charities or any other such activity from the official websites or other sources. Therefore, we are unable to determine what level of social contribution the company commits to.

Pros

  • Easy to use and highly dissolvable formula
  • Eco-friendly products from manufacturing to shipment
  • Essential and dye free ingredients extracted, processed, and delivered using climate-friendly practices
  • Plastic-free, biodegradable, recyclable packaging

Joined the club after trying for a few months. Very satisfied customer!”

Summary

It’s time for the final verdict. Earth Breeze vs Sheets Laundry Club: Which one is best for you? After carefully assessing each brand’s strengths, weaknesses, cost-effectiveness, and social and environmental impact, we can say:

I suggest you buy Earth Breeze if you are looking for a brand that provides pocket-friendly eco laundry sheets ($0.33 per load and $0.22 per load with subscription) with the same results as your traditional liquid detergent. You can use half a sheet if you want to wash less clothes or hand wash them, or two sheets for particularly soiled loads. They have fragrance-free sheets, as well, for those who have sensitive skin.

Earth Breeze is a socially responsible company that advocates for a plastic-free world. They may not have the wide range of household products of Sheets, but their affordable detergent strips and social contributions make them stand out from the competition. We found Earth Breeze Eco Sheets better than Sheets Laundry Club for people who want to shift to dehydrated plastic-free laundry strips and get rid of those toxic plastic containers from your shelves.
